MAKE CITIES AND OTHER HUMAN SETTLEMENTS INCLUSIVE, SAFE, RESILIENT AND SUSTAINABLE
Building and organising cities in a way that takes account of the available land and resources while still ensuring that there are enough jobs is quite a challenge.
The increasing concentration of people in urban environments is putting pressure on the social, economic and environmental requirements for living and working. People’s lifestyles vary over the course of their lives and are influenced by their immediate physical environment.
WUR explores new approaches to urban green infrastructure and the urban ecosystem
Greening the city improves air quality, reduces noise pollution, encourages people to take physical exercise, reduces stress & aggression and increases social cohesion. Wageningen University & Research (WUR) provides information on services for the urban green infrastructure and the urban ecosystem, explores new approaches such as biomimicry and their added value, and reaches out to and cooperates with different urban groups and stakeholders.
